Primary and Secondary School Incursions
At Aussie Wildlife Displays we also offer two different incursions for primary and secondary schools. Our demonstrations are educational as well as a fun activity and that is highly interactive. Our Wildlife Wonders show includes a variety of native wildlife such as reptiles, marsupials, birds and amphibians while our Reptile incursions includes a vast array of native reptiles.
Topics covered in these demonstrations are:
- General Ecology – range, diet and lifestyle
- Ecosystems – how different animals and plants interact
- Status of wildlife in the wild
- Threats to the different species and their environment
- Human impacts
Our wildlife and reptile incursions are a great way to introduce students the theme of conservation by allowing students to get up close and personal with some native Australian wildlife. We are also working on a resource for teachers (information sheets and questionnaires) which will be released soon.
Our wildlife demonstrations for schools cover a range of intriguing and interesting wildlife including reptiles such as snakes, lizards and crocodiles, marsupials including sugar gliders, rufous bettongs and a wombat, amphibians and a native predatory bird such as an owl or a kookaburra. Incursions are tailored to suit the age group and if you would like us to work the incursion in with a particular topic or your curriculum please feel free to contact us before hand and we can organise to tailor the demonstration around your class. We cover many different animal groups and species in this demonstration and cover topics such as diets, range, adaptations, different habitat types and threats to different species and their environments. As well as this the incursion is highly interactive and will keep the students captivated as they are given the opportunity to touch and hold the animals.
Australian Reptile incursion:
Our reptile incursions offer a variety of native Australian reptiles for your students to learn about and interact with. We bring along a great variety of snakes, turtles, a baby crocodile and varying lizards, such as skinks, dragons, geckos and even legless lizards. We cover many different reptile groups looking at how they differ and how ectotherms differ from endotherms. We cover topics such as diets, range, adaptations, different habitat types and threats to different species and their environments. As well as this the incursion is highly interactive and will keep the students captivated as they are given the opportunity to touch and hold the animals. Again we can tailor this demonstration to suit your curriculum and different classes.
